Oh, For FLIPS Sake!

"(unintelligible)"

"WOOOOOOWWW!"

"OHHHHH!"

"He just took a big header."

So it was the day the crab flipped.

It happened at Berkley Canyon, just off the west coast of Canada. It also happened under the watchful eye (and cameras. Also spotlights) of the folks at NEPTUNE Canada. Which is nice!

The crabs seem to be attracted to the bubbles of methane rising from the sea floor. I assume they're eating some kind of bacteria or something...

Beans, beans, good for the heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart.

Video: Neptune Canada
Swiftly leaves the scene

It really looks like one of the diners got a little gassy and instead of leaving the table to "powder her nose", simply let it all out. And then powdered her nose by falling head first into the sediment.

In reality, it's more likely that the methane froze on her body and made her buoyant. Then the gas floated away all sparkly and silvery as she embarked on her unintentional acrobatics.

Either way, it was greeted with the kind of breathless enthusiasm usually reserved for irresponsible whales. Charming!

I like how one of the other crabs walks over.

"Hey, dude, you okay? You aren't dead, are you? 'Cause if you're dead can I eat you?"

*methane crab stalks off*

"I... don't want to talk about it"
