I guess that kind of trauma can make your serial killing a little more forgiveable.Joseph JGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11623613806055217490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1711029747294427530.post-35924039095576982002012-03-02T16:09:47.535+00:002012-03-02T16:09:47.535+00:00Harvest spiders scare the poo out of me. So naturally, I poke it with a stick, and thousands of spiders came running towards me, screaming threats and wielding switchblades. Ok, maybe I exaggerated on the last bit, but it was genuinely terrifying. Now I squish them when I see them--it may be terribly unfair of me, but they've offended me to my deepest core, and I just can't let go of that.
Nice article though! Thanks for showing me the difference between harvest and cellar, cuz I always got confused!!Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10179746974194866218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1711029747294427530.post-89215414078728898102011-11-28T11:18:23.710+00:002011-11-28T11:18:23.710+00:00They may well do! Otherwise I suspect they'd have to find some water to top up.Joseph JGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11623613806055217490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1711029747294427530.post-61557292217387514262011-11-28T01:14:51.581+00:002011-11-28T01:14:51.581+00:00Do Cellar Spiders actually drink water?Do Cellar Spiders actually drink water?xBrookiexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00247256586163061317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1711029747294427530.post-90548311614316954452011-04-25T12:45:36.529+01:002011-04-25T12:45:36.529+01:00I knew about the violent shaking and swinging, yeh...I knew about the violent shaking and swinging, yeh. I only recently found out it was supposed to be some kind of defensive thing. I guess I hadn't thought of that since it would be so utterly ineffective against the likes of me.

As for those long legs: yeh, that kind of stuff is amazing. They would probably say the same about the amazing control we have over our fingers!Joseph JGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11623613806055217490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1711029747294427530.post-12273389391808273262011-04-25T05:08:56.330+01:002011-04-25T05:08:56.330+01:00I have a few cellar spiders hanging around my plac...I have a few cellar spiders hanging around my place. I tend to leave them alone so they can run pest control for me, but sometimes they get a bit too smart for their own good (like when they decide to hide in my shower where there's lots of water to drink).

Did you know that when startled, a cellar spider will sometimes grab its web and start swinging back and forth violently? Supposedly it's to frighten potential threats or to further entangle prey.

I once saw one sitting on a wall and it very carefully put just the very tip of one of its legs in its mouth, presumably to clean it. I can't imagine what it'd be like to have that kind of precision with a limb a ten times the length of my entire body.Crunchyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01168966625437103310noreply@blogger.com
